Same issue with Toshiba Satellite. I lost the webcam exactly when Microsoft automatically updated Windows 10 to 'Anniversary Edition'. Poof no webcam. Microsoft promised patches, maybe some worked but not with Toshiba. Microsoft points fingers at Toshiba and Toshiba does not admit issue. The Device Manager shows the webcamera as hidden, but tells me the

driver is up to date. There are no web camera drivers on Toshiba support page. Solution:

buy a new laptop. Thanks a bunch.

I have a Toshiba P855-S6201 laptop that has a built-in camera. After I upgraded to Windows 8.1 the webcam stopped working. I opened the Device Manager to see if I could update the drivers and noticed that I didn't even have any Imaging devices listed in Device Manager anymore. I tried going to Toshiba support website to see if I could download the software and drivers that go with the webcam but for some reason they no longer support those drivers or give access to them. Does anyone know were I could find driver software that will support my Toshiba P855-S6201 ? Since Windows 8.1 doesn't support Feedback Hub is there anyway the research and development team could help me find a driver?

Toshiba P855-S6201 running Windows 8.1 64 bit.

It's another ****. Microsoft says it's Toshiba. Toshiba says it's Microsoft. Apparently it is rocket science because they only sell the junk and don't know how to fix the problem.

Same issue here with me and also my Intel wifi card bit the dust also..had Microsoft remote assist and they blamed Toshiba..makes me want to ditch Microsoft altogether and go Linux..so tired of these companies thinking we should spend a grand every year..total careless ripoff

Hi,
Run your mouse around the outside edges of the monitor to see if the camera software is
running (usually on the left side is a slide out though it can be in other places). Also check
in the notification area near the clock on lower right.
On my Toshiba, which is a different model, the camera software is located here :
'C:Program FilesCamera Assistant Software for Toshibatraybar.exe'
You can use Start - Computer OR Windows Explorer to navigate to it. That loads the slide
out on the left edge on monitor and the icon in the notification area.

Be sure to check with your System Maker's Support, on-line documentation and drivers, and ask in
their forums (if any) where there would be others with the same model if a built-in WebCam or the
actual WebCam Maker if a separate device. Links to Toshiba Support below.
Check the Start - All Programs Menu for Camera, WebCam, a Folder/Program with the System
Maker's name or similar to see if you can locate the WebCam software.

You probably need to reload the camera drivers and any camera control software (usually included
with the drivers and installed at the same time).
Logon as Admin.
Control Panel - Device Manager - Imaging - write down make and model of camera - double click
on it and on driver's tab get version. Now click Update Drivers (which may not do anything as MS
is far behind certifying drivers). The RIGHT CLICK on the camera - UNINSTALL - REBOOT - this
will refresh the driver stack.
Now go to System Maker's site and download the latest camera driver and other related camera
software (if no newer get the same ones).
Download - SAVE - go to them and RIGHT CLICK - RUN AS ADMIN - reboot after each driver.

Manually look at manufacturer's sites for drivers.

Then leave windows updates on however stop it from loading drivers which are often older than the
ones you have installed. If Updates suggests a driver then HIDE it and look manually to see if their
really is a newer one (at both system maker and device maker's sites).
