The ACM Software System Award is an annual award that honors people or an organization 'for developing a software system that has had a lasting influence, reflected in contributions to concepts, in commercial acceptance, or both'. It is our pleasure to announce that Project Jupyter has been awarded the 2017 ACM Software System Award, a significant honor for the project. We are humbled to join an illustrious list of projects that contains major highlights of computing history, including Unix, TeX, S (R’s predecessor), the Web, Mosaic, Java, INGRES (modern databases) and more. About ACM ACM, the world's largest educational and scientific computing society, delivers resources that advance computing as a science and a profession. ACM provides the computing field's premier Digital Library and serves its members and the computing profession with leading-edge publications, conferences, and career resources.
